How can we see the passage of time—endless, unbroken, ever flowing?
In his quest to explore our relationship with time and space, photographer Robert Charles Mann has returned to a minimalist approach to image capture. His solargraphs are created using pinhole cameras he builds himself, allowing him to expose the sun continuously for six months. This curated volume presents, for the first time, fifty exceptional images that bear witness to the silent, continuous movement of time and light.

Preface by Brad Pitt - Exhibition at Galerie Capazza until September 2025
Press Reviews

‘In his Solargraphs, a certain relationship with the world emerges, between rejecting the technological dispossession of humankind and reclaiming a technique that is appropriate, playful and accessible.’
— Mikaël Faujour, revue Esprit, juillet 2025
What does this process allow you to express? The passage of time, yet fixed in an image that can only represent this idea. I hope to share with those who view my photos a rich and dreamlike experience, a point of reference from which to explore the soul. These photographs convey many messages. They are enigmas created to be deciphered by the viewer." Robert Charles Mann, interviewed by Thibaut Godet (Réponses Photo, August-September 2025).
