One remained on the surface, on the ice, while the other submerged in the icy waters and did not resist the call of the depths. One observed snow petrels, black-eyed albatrosses, leopard seals, and fur seals, while the other closely spawned with marine mammals, right whales, black pilot whales, and royal crabs. Both were able to follow the daily life of entire colonies of penguins emperors and explore the universe of this emblematic animal of the South Pole.
Both have brought back unique images from this voyage in which the apparent sweetness of life on the ice is opposed to the density of the seabed under the ice. The result of a technical as well as artistic feat, this book is also a very beautiful, original object: two blocks, joined by a Swiss binding, are opposed and gather in a beautiful cardboard.
I have seen the film of making these photos and what it took to get tem. They are eternally beutiful. Thank you, Laurent Ballesta and Vincent Munier for bringing this world info our lives.
