Outstanding body of photographic work that approaches the subject of moving water as feeling in form and adds something new to the pictorial conversation. It is an adventurous and imaginative connection that invokes water as sensation. The quality of the prints and the chronological presentation of the photos are excellent.
Stunning perspectives on the hydrodynamics of breaking waves. The occasional motion blur makes things a little confusing, but does capture time history. The recent companion video on youtube "Ben Thouard: Aqua Obscura, Underwater Photographer" is fantastic and really helps with sense making of the images in the book.

Robert Charles Mann’s Solargraphs presents a captivating body of work that utilized hand-made pinhole cameras to expose the sun over many months. Mann’s process produces abstracted landscapes that question human perspectives regarding the passage of time. I applaud his choice of color film for this project. Clearly, accumulating all these images required a monumental effort on Mann’s part. It’s an expertly produced book, very beautiful, and published on matte paper. Sometime, I would like to see prints of this work on a glossy paper, and I wonder if a future volume of his work might benefit from that treatment.

Ce livre retranscrit parfaitement tout le talent d'Anthony Ghnassia : la capacité de saisir par une simple photo toute l'énergie d'une scène, aussi bien du côté de l'artiste que du côté du public. J'ai autant de plaisir à admirer ces photos aussi bien pour un événement auquel j'ai moi-même assisté que pour ceux que je découvre dans le livre. On est transportés dans l'ambiance, et le contraste marquant avec les scènes de silences qui suivent participe à l'immersion dans ces moments capturés. Je recommande cet ouvrage et surtout un grand bravo à toi Anthony !
This book is a gift from my husband for my 60th birthday. I can't wait for the Winter Solstice when I'll unwrap this impressively large book and take in each sumptuous page!
C'est le troisième livre que j'achète de Ben Thouard après "Turbulences" et "Surface", j'avoue avoir une légère déception sur celui-là... Pas sur les photos, bien sûr, qui restent magnifiques, mais sur le papier structuré mat choisi. Je trouve qu'il met beaucoup moins en valeur les images que les deux premiers... C'est juste mon avis personnel, toujours les goûts et les couleurs !
